APOLLO ANNEX

The approach to the Apollo Annex is centered around three main drivers: a “vertical streetscape,” a people’s archive, and a commercial kitchen. Development of all three function to facilitate places of gathering and community building. Street features of the stoop, awning, and storefront are unique spaces in the surrounding Harlem neighborhood that, when abstracted, can further facilitate sharing. Smaller spaces of reflection on the first “floor” of the Annex will allow people to record memories that can be entered into the archive - a sort of digital collection of community and culture.
